Homeopathy from the lens of a homeopathFebruary 1, 2021 Posted by: Dr Manoj's Homeopathy 173 views
When you have a small cut or bruise, your first instinct is to put a band-aid, right? What is the purpose of doing so? Most people do so to protect the injured place from further injury or to help them continue with their daily routine without the injury hampering it, correct? For example, if you cut your finger while chopping vegetables, you put on a band-aid so that one, you can continue chopping and two, so that you don’t feel the pain.
However, after a few days, your intention shifts from preventing further injury or protecting the injured spot to actual healing.
The ideals of homeopathy work in a similar fashion. Let’s explore homeopathy through the eyes of a homeopath.
Treating vs Healing
One of the biggest reasons why homeopathy as a branch of medicine stands out is because of the choice it makes between treating and healing. A health condition can be dealt with in two ways: it can either be ‘managed’ through medication and surgical treatments, or can be healed from the core so that the disease is eliminated from the body.
Homeopathy chooses the tougher option.
When as a homeopath, I have a patient coming in, for me, as for all homeopathy doctors, it isn’t about providing temporary relief and thinking of looking at other options ‘if the problem persists’. For me, it is about delving deep and understanding every single aspect of the discomfort my patient is facing so that as in-depth my analysis of the problem is, the solution too is fool-proof and deeply effective.
One of the pillars of homeopathy is the symptoms. The general belief is the fact that if we target the symptoms, the discomfort or disease will automatically get fixed from the root. It’s in fact a reverse therapy where we focus on all the symptoms instead of prescribing medicines for a disease.
It is this symptomatic approach that helps us heal than hide.
Patience is the key
While a lot has been said and written about homeopathy being one of the safest forms of medicine, its all-natural formulations and so on, as a homeopath, it’s important to express that not enough stress has been laid on the virtue of patience and faith.
The human body works on a complex mechanism and if one wheel of this body malfunctions, it does take its due time to recover. Conventional medicine might help with faster solutions, but the key to getting the body back in shape lies in patiently resolving the bigger problem as well as the smaller problems that surface because of it.
Therefore, haste will generally backfire. Springing from one of the essentials of homeopathy that we spoke about in the previous section, which is a symptomatic approach, another big aspect of this type of medicine is the need to be patient.
Just like a pair of tangled earphones need to be untangled with patience and concentration, illnesses of the human body also require expertise and time, which is what works best in homeopathy.
Apart from that, to complete the process of healing, it’s also critical that the patient have enough faith in the system so that the body responds to the medication and accelerates the process of recovery.
Overall, homeopathy brings together a combination of natural, safe medication that heal the symptoms without ‘managing’ your discomfort. It has become successful over the years thanks to several human emotions – patience, faith, sincerity to heal and a commitment both from the patient and the doctor.
Therefore, while other types of medicine might promise a quicker recovery, homeopathy stands solid in complete healing as opposed to faster respite.
That, for me, as a homeopath is what makes me take pride in what I do.
